Emily Franks is so excited to join the Dance Connection family!
She began her dance journey at the age of 10 at The Woodlands Dance Center, under the direction of Regan Jurick, and has extensive training in the areas of Modern, Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz. She is excited to relocate to the Indianapolis area as a recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma (studying under Austin Hartel and Roxanne Lyst), where she will begin her first year as a trainee with Dance Kaleidoscope and join the staff of Dance Connection!
Emily is a former company member of Hartel Dance Group. She was also an instructor, adjudicator, and choreographer for MA Dance, where she enjoyed teaching students throughout the continental United States and Hawaii. Miss Franks continues her training by attending company intensives, such as Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Nobel Motion Dance Intensive, and Ad Deum Dance Intensive. Notable master classes and/or artists in residencies include Jean-Guillaume Weis, David Hochoy, Jesus Acosta, Clayton Cross, Donathan Flucas, Steve Rooks, Durell Comedy, and Christopher Huggins.
She has been featured in dance films that are currently playing in both national and international festivals (“I Think I Know Where I Stand” - LA Dance Film Festival, Mainsite Contemporary Art, and IAO Gallery; “Phrases in Spaces”; “Keep Up”). Her performance experience includes Contemporary Dance Oklahoma, Hubbard Street Dance Intensive Professional Showcase, Hartel Dance Group “Human After All”, Nobel Motion Dance Summer Intensive Series, and The University of Oklahoma Modern Dance Thesis Show “Rites of Departure”.
Emily enjoys teaching dancers of all ages and watching them fall in love with the art, just like she has throughout her dance journey.
